Carer selected for national award

A mother of three from Golden has been selected to represent South Tipperary in the National Carer of the Year awards which take place on November 5.

A mother of three from Golden has been selected to represent South Tipperary in the National Carer of the Year awards which take place on November 5.

Margaret Gubbins, was nominated by her son Shane, for her devotion to and care for his older brother Daniel, for the past 21 years.

Daniel was born with an extremely rare condition and Margaret has been his full-time carer since his birth.

Manager of the Carers Association Richie Molloy said he was delighted that Margaret was selected. “She is such a worthy winner, and thanks to Shane for his letter, which judges were very impressed with.

“This award is a great way for carers to be appreciated.”
