The Tipperary Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (TSPCA) says that it is facing one of the most difficult challenges in its history as funding cuts and the pressures of the job take their toll.

Thirty-year-old Mark Hickey, who has been involved in the TSPCA ‘since he could walk’, with his father Conor, said that the organisation’s forthcoming flag days which take place around Clonmel on August 30 & 31, will have a huge bearing on whether or not the TSPCA can continue.

According to Mark, the situation has become unsustainable as the charity’s funds are drying up, in the face of increased levels of animal crualty and neglect.
