Be more vigilant and promote a good neighbourly attitude; report suspicious activity to the Gardai, Community Alert and neighbours, record the registration number of cars if possible; be mindful of the aged and people living alone; when going on holidays, keep it to yourself and ask the post office to keep your post until you return.
