Most of us have been affected by cancer in some form. It seems to be one of the most prevalent diseases around.
Unfortunately the cure can be as hard on a person as the disease itself sometimes and some of the side effects can have a huge effect on confidence, particularly relating to appearance.
The most obvious side effect is the hair loss, which affects eyelashes, eyebrows and of course the hair on our heads.
For our head hair there are some fabulous, natural looking wigs available. One such shop that caters for all things cancer related is The Hair Experts based at The Kinsale Roundabout, Cork City. They are experts in this field and make custom made wigs for patients.
The wigs are made from real hair, donated by people who had long hair but wanted a change. There is always a need for hair donations and here are the basic requirements:
-The minimum hair length suitable for making children’s wigs is 8 inches (20cm). Please tie the hair donation up into ponytails and wrap in cling film prior to sending it.
- Chemically treated hair is not suitable, sorry. Hair that has been treated with chemicals is not as strong or stable as untreated hair.
– All hair donations can be posted to either of our locations in either Dublin (Versacchi Private Treatment Clinic, 175 Kimmage Road Lower, Kimmage, Dublin 6W.) or Cork (Versacchi Cork B Plaza No. 6, South Ring Business Park, Kinsale Road, Cork City.
