Recent Bereavement

St. Patrick’s GAA Club extends it’s deepest sympathy to the Lawless family Kilbury on the death of Charlie Lawless Kilbury, Cloneen.

Charles was an accomplished footballer in his day and was a member of the St. Patrick’s team which won the county senior football title in 1953.

The halfback line of Charlie Lawless, Paddy Gleeson and Teddy Keane were often credited as being the backbone of the team providing a stone wall defence against many a team.

Charlie Lawless along with Paddy O’Meara and Paddy Gleeson were also members of the South Tipperary minor football team which won the Miller Shield in 1947.

In 1951 Charlie helped St. Patricks to the South Tipperary Junior Football title but his absence in the Co. semi-final was critical in a victory for Boherlahan who had Jerry Ryan of Rossane at corner back. Charlie was a member of the Co. Tipperary Junior Football team in 1954.

The Lawless family are still very active in our club as several of Charlie’s grandchildren are now playing with the St. Patrick’s Juvenile club.

May he rest in peace.
