Did you intend to start your new year the right way, with a strong focus on getting in shape, losing weight or simply toning up?
At the start of January the Clonmel Park Hotel Leisure Club, in association with Tipp FM, invited people from companies, schools, organisations or sports groups to partake in their Get Fit & Lean in 2014 Trip to Fit Challenge.
This was a planned four-week itenary of fitness and nutrition plans with plenty of encouragement along the way, with the overall winner receiving a host of excellent prizes.
At the start of January, Leisure Centre manager Aine Roche, launched the challenge and made the call for contestants live on Tipp FM.
After being inundated with entrants, four lucky finalists were selected: Donal Foote, Phyllis Sheehan, Muriel Tobin and Fiona Donnellan. Then the fun began as the contestants were put under pressure to get in shape.
Each contestant was appointed a personal trainer from the Clonmel Park Leisure Centre, who offered support, guidance and plenty of motivation. They worked with them closely through the gym, pool and the extensive range of classes.
Each week one candidate was interviewed on air and the overall ‘Slimmer of the Week’ was chosen.
The competition ended last Friday where the finalists were put through their paces one last time at a gym session before going back on air for the final weigh in.
In the space of just four weeks the four contestants collectively lost over 61lbs weight, with Donal Foote chosen as the overall winner.
The Clonmel Park Leisure Centre congratulated all contestants and said they look forward to catching up with them again in May to monitor their progress.
