The news that Cahir Tourist Office is to re-open soon has been welcomed by local independent TD Mattie McGrath.
Fáilte Ireland has confirmed to Deputy McGrath that they will now re-open the tourist office next week for the coming season, following engagement with South Tipperary County Council over the past few weeks.
“It is vitally important that small local businesses that depend on tourism are supported and I welcome the fact that they have agreed to re-open for this tourist season,” said Deputy McGrath
While Fáilte Ireland will re-open the Cahir office for this coming season, they have also stated that as with other regions and in the context of reducing budgets and staff, they will seek to meet with South Tipperary County Council and other local interests in the coming months to explore alternative models of service provision to meet the needs of the local tourism sector.
“The Office is still at risk for the future and I will continue to put the case forward for the need for more supports for tourism in Tipperary but in the interim it is a welcome decision to open the office for the current season,” he said.
