The finale of the Clonmel Junction Festival, is set to have people on the edge of their seats as circus performer and high wire walker Chris Bull, will attempt to cross the river Suir on 75m of rope.

This thrilling spectacle will form the final act in a very special performance by award-winning Banna Chluain Meala, as well as a choreographed display by the band’s Colour Guard across the Gashouse Bridge, where the event takes place and which can be viewed from either side of the river.

Entitled the Banna Chluain Meala High Wire Spectacular, the event will also feature street theatre company Bui Bolg. There will be a family viewing area in Denis Burke park while the river edge will be stewarded by Junction Festival staff and the Civil Defence. There will be no viewing from Gas House Bridge and traffic restrictions will be in place. There will be controlled pedestrian traffic on the bridge and a stop-go system for traffic crossing the bridge until such time as the Gardaí deem this to be unsafe. The event is sponsored by MSD and made possible with the support of the Borough Council and the Arts Council. For more information see junctionfestival.com.
