Clonmel Borough Council has seen an increase in reports from members of the public, of drivers who are abusing disability parking bays in Clonmel, according to independent Cllr Darren Ryan.

Cllr Ryan, who has called for the introduction of clamping for drivers who abuse disability parking said it is only by highlighting what these ‘selfish’ people are doing that the abuse will be stamped out. He commended Clonmel’s two traffic wardens who do not tolerate drivers’ abuse of such spaces.

“I also welcome reports from Clonmel Borough Council of an increase in members of the public contacting the Council with details of drivers who blatantly abuse disability parking spaces. People are reporting primarily those who have no official parking permit, and secondly people are informing the Council of those who are misusing the parking permits by using them on other vehicles or those that are out of date.”
