Good weekend for club teams:

We had two teams out last weekend.

In the Adult Football League Division 1 we recorded an 0-8 to 0-3 win over Emly.

In the County Intermediate Hurling League Group 3 we defeated Gortnahoe/Glengoole by the narrowest of margins, 0-15 to 0-14.

The intermediate hurlers now play Cahir in Monroe on this coming Sunday at 12 noon.

Our minor footballers are pencilled in to play Clonmel Commercials on Saturday at 2.30 pm in Ned Hall Park. This is a Minor ‘A’ Championship tie.

Unsung Heroes:

Congratulations to Pat O’Connor and Frank Burke who were nominated for the Eileen
Anderson Unsung Hero Award at a function in Hotel Minella last Saturday night, the winner was Michelle Maher, a very worthy winner also.

Birthday Boy!

Happy Birthday to Michael Mulcahy who celebrated in style with a party in the Half Way on Saturday night last.

Comhaltas live on the radio:

Powerstown/Lisronagh Comhaltas gave us a fine sample of what they are about on Tipp FM’s ‘Down Your Way’ last Thursday night. Well done to all concerned.

Sympathies:

The club sends its condolences to the Cleary family, Chancellorstown, the Sheehan family, Tannersrath, the Murphy family, Powerstown and the friends and family of John O’Leary Ballyvaughan, late of Clonmel.

Keeping all the women happy!

Moyle Rovers’ Keith Delahunty was a busy man in Waterford last weekend at the Universities Ladies Football Finals. Keith refereed one of the semi-finals before going on to take charge of the final where Queens University Belfast defeated Dublin City University by 4-10 to 1-9. Well done Keith!

On the County Scene:

Tipp senior footballers had a great win in the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick on Saturday last winning by 0-15 to 0-9. This third successive win puts them right back in the mix for promotion. Peter Acheson scored 0-2 and put in a tremendous second half while the game also saw the very welcome return to the inter-county fold for Brian Mulvihill after his recent injury.

Elsewhere the county under 21s had a one-sided 1-17 to 0-9 win over Waterford in Semple Stadium, Thurles last week. Our own Philip Quirke was introduced with 15 minutes remaining and scored no less than four points. Tipp now meet Clare in the semi-final.
