Solohead had a good win over, 1-14 to 2-5, Arravale Rovers in the Rea Clarke Hennessy junior B football championship, played at Lattin on Thursday evening.
A good start was half the work for Solohead.
With the advantage of the breeze in the first half Solohead ran up a big lead and were 0-10 to nil in front after sixteen minutes.
Arravale eventually got on the score sheet towards the end of the half when Pakie Burke scored 1-1 and the half-time score was 0-11 to 1-1 in Solohead’s favour.
Solohead went further ahead with two points on the resumption and it wasn’t until the 13th minute that Tony Byrnes got Arravale’s first score.
This was followed up two minutes later with a goal by Brian Glasheen, who finished off a great run by Brian Jones from the middle of the field.
However, the goal failed to give Arravale the expected bounce and they scored only three points during the remainder of the half for a total of 2-5.
At the same time Solohead added 1-1 to give them a final tally of 1-14 and a comfortable win.
Solohead got good displays from Davy Ryan, Jamie Ryan, John Joe O’Brien and Eoin Riordan, while Ned Lowry, Brian Jones and Pakie Burke stood out for Arravale.
