Town progressed to the next round of the national cup with an impressive display in Templemore last weekend.

Town were two goals up after 12 minutes to set themselves in the road to victory.

Keith Cashman opened the scoring in the sixth minute when he slotted home from ten yards after some good play in the middle of the park.

Tony Scully then went close to increasing the lead, but had a free kick pushed over the bar after ten minutes. From the resulting corner kick, Adrian Cleere headed in from close range to put the visitors well on their way to the next round.

Clonmel Town were in control of the game and did not allow the home side create any opportunities until the 30th minute when Ronan Stanley made an excellent goal line clearance. Five minutes later, Harps had a great opportunity to score but they shot over the bar from close range.

Emmet Johnson almost increased the lead again for Town right on the stroke of half-time but headed over from close in.

Town started the second half in a very strong fashion and David McGrath scored the third goal from the edge of the area in the 49th minute. A minute later, McGrath scored again with a great strike from 12 yards out. The game was effectively over at this point and Town missed numerous chances to add to the score line.

Harps were reduced to ten men in the 80th minute of the game following a bad challenge on Keith Browne. Clonmel Town then decided to close up shop for the day and coasted home with their victory in the bag.
