Carrick Swan Club congratulates the Tipperary Intermediate hurling team, and particularly its representative on the team, Gerry Walsh, on their All Ireland final victory over Kilkenny last Saturday.

Carrick Swan Club congratulates the Tipperary Intermediate hurling team, and particularly its representative on the team, Gerry Walsh, on their All Ireland final victory over Kilkenny last Saturday.

Gerry has been one of the Swan Club’s most dedicated and consistent players for many years and is most deserving of an All Ireland medal.

Carrick Swan Junior hurlers achieved a great win against Clonoulty/Rossmore in the county league final last Sunday. The final score was 1-17 to 1-11.

The Club congratulates the panel of players and team mentors. The team lost to Skeheenarinka in the South championship quarter-final in Goatenbridge last Friday.

Meanwhile, the Minor hurling team’s scheduled game against St Mary’s did not take place last week and the team have now qualified for the semi-final with one league section game remaining against Kilsheelan.

Carrick Swan Senior hurlers have been drawn to play Drom & Inch in the county championship. This game will take place on Saturday, September 15 in Cashel at 3.30pm.

A number of Swan juvenile players represented Tipperary in underage games last weekend.

Dean Fitzgerald, Tommy McGrath, Jack Cooke and Eric O’Halloran were part of the U-15 panel while Gavin O’Halloran represented the club on the U-16 panel.

Many of our underage teams are in action this week and next. The U-16 hurlers have been drawn to play St Marys in the South semi-final.

The U-8 and U-10 girls and U-10 boys played friendly games against Piltown while the U-8 boys played a blitz in Ballyneale last Saturday. The U-10 boys will play a county blitz in Thurles on Saturday while the U-11 boys will travel to Cobh for a hurling blitz the same day.

Numbers drawn in last week’s juvenile lotto were 1, 7, 15 and 16. The jackpot prize of €3,750 wasn’t won and four players matched three numbers to win €50 each.

The Club thanks all those who continue to play the lotto and reminds those who might like to join that weekly entry costs €2 and this can be paid to any committee member or any lotto promoter, who will call to collect the fee each week. This week’s jackpot prize is €4,000. Funds raised from the lotto help the club provide for its juvenile players.

The Tipperary Minor Hurling team are wished the best of luck in their All-Ireland hurling final next Sunday.

The Club extends its sympathy to the Hackett and Flynn families of Clonmel and Carrick-on-Suir on their recent family bereavement and to the family of the late Jimmy Roche, Treacy Park, who died during the past week.
