A decision on Carrick Swans’ expulsion from the South and County Senior Hurling Championships is expected to be made tonight, Wednesday, when the GAA’s County Hearings Committee meets to discuss the matter at Lar na Pairce in Thurles.

Swans were thrown out of championship hurling and hit with a €3,000 fine by the South Board after they refused to play their South Senior Hurling Semi-final against Mullinahone.

The club, the holders of the South title, claimed they were unable to fulfil the fixture because they had 9 players unavailable for a variety of reasons including illness, injury, work commitments and holidays.

The match was awarded to Mullinahone but their South Final against Swans’ Carrick neighbours Davins, which was scheduled for Clonmel last Sunday, was postponed when Swans sought a hearing from the County Hearings Committee.
