Tipperary made a losing start to their National Hurling League campaign when they were beaten by Kilkenny by 8 points in Nowlan Park on Sunday.

Kilkenny were always in the driving seat and a goal from Richie Power’s penalty helped them to lead at half time by 1-10 to 0-8.

Points from Noel McGrath and Pa Bourke’s free brought Tipp back into contention at the start of the second half but a second Kilkenny goal, which came from captain Eoin Larkin, got them back on track and they ran out easy winners.
