They raced into a 1-2 to no score lead with two points from Adrian Cleere and a James Logue’s goal laid on by Cleere.

Newcastle hit back with 1-5 without reply, the goal from Brian Sweeney from a great Barry Hickey pass just over Philip Ivors’ reach and Hickey turned on a sixpence and hit a wonderful kick that gave David Cashin no chance in the Ballingarry goal. Brian Sweeney hit three points, two from frees with points from Oliver Smith and Conor Grant.

With Donal Shelley, Adrian Cleere and Dickie Norton coming back into the game the tide turned very much in Ballingarry’s favour with 1-3 without a response - the goal from James Maher and points from Cleere (2) and Gary Ivors to leave the half time score 2-5 to 1-5.

Conor Grant opened the second half scoring for Newcastle with Adrian Cleere replying. Ian Ivors added a point for Ballingarry to go 2-7 to 1-6. Barry Hickey (2) and Andrew Fitzpatrick for Newcastle and Cleere (3) swapped scores but Newcastle couldn’t get the goal they needed.
