Arravale Rovers booked a place in the knockout phase of the County Senior Football championship with an impressive 1-16 to 2-3 win over Moycarkey/Borris in Golden on Wednesday evening.
A fast start from the Tipperary Town side set the tone for the game with Bryan Lowry getting 1-1 in the first minute of the match.
Donagh Leahy followed up with a point in the second minute.
Arravale Rovers conceded a sloppy goal from lacklustre defending but in truth were always in control.
Some excellent pressure for Arravale Rovers yielded a point from Peter Mulhair and Darragh Coughlan saw a great effort come back of the crossbar in the 12th minute.
A number of Arravale Rovers players got on the score sheet in the first half with the Rovers half back line raiding down the field on numerous occasions and causing major headaches for the Moycarkey/Borris defence.
At half time Arravale Rovers led by 1-7 to 1-2 but the scoreboard was not a true reflection of the control Arravale had over the game.
The dominance continued in the second half with Niall Donovan pointing after the restart.
Darragh Coughlan and Donagh Leahy followed with each raising a white flag in the 33rd minute.
Conor McManus was strong in possession and his persistent running at the Moycarkey/Borris back line paid off when he was awarded a penalty in the 46th minute.
Unfortunately the one on one was not converted but further scores from Brian Jones and James ‘Chilli’ Hogan closed out the game.
The Mid Tipperary outfit did raise a green flag but the only effect was to make the scoreboard look a bit more respectable with Arravale Rovers winning on a score line of 1-16 to 2-03.
For Arravale Rovers the half back line of Ciaran Lowry, Shane Leahy and Tony Byrnes were again dominant for the second game in a row. Brian Jones performed well in the middle of the field and Conor McManus was strong on the ball and created a lot of openings for the forward line.
Bryan Lowry had a tremendous game in the forward line with a man of the match performance.
