GALTEE/GOLDEN 0-17

GALTEE/GOLDEN 0-17

ARRAVALE/EIRE OG 0-10

Galtee/Golden made it two wins from two when they defeated Arravale/Eire Og 0-17 to 0-10 in the Dundrum House Hotel West Minor A Hurling Championship in Golden.

Galtee/Golden laid the foundations for the victory with a very good first half. Points from Shane Power (0-4), Jonathan Wade and Andy Byrnes saw them open up a six point advantage before Arravale/Éire Óg got their first point through Fergus Halligan. As the first half developed Galtee/Golden continued to dominate down the middle of the field and further white flags from Andy Byrnes, Niall Heffernan and Jake Flannery left the half time score 0-11 to 0-2 in favour of Galtee/Golden.
The second half was a much closer affair. Arravale/Eire Og moved Nathan Murphy Crowe to centre back and introduced Matthew Moroney and Darren O’Dwyer , gradually getting into the game hitting a succession of points, including a spectacular side-line cut from Fergus Halligan. Galtee/Golden though kept the scoreboard ticking over, as Andy Byrnes hit five points from placed balls and Callum Fanning added another to leave seven points between the teams at the final whistle. In reality, Arravale/Eire Og needed goals to close the insurmountable gap between the sides which never looked coming apart from a few half-chances.
