Cahir Dive Club members headed down south to the beautiful Bere Island for the first weekend away of this years diving season.

There was no hanging around with the first dive taking place Friday evening and all divers exploring a Spanish Trawler known as the Zorro Zaurre that sank in the 1980’s and now resides 15 metres underwater.

After mooring the boat for the night a short trek was made to the Admirals House, with its elevated position in the Island offering fantastic views off the coast. As food is almost as important as the diving on these trips, the aroma of dinner was enough to motivate a quick clean up of equipment so that appetites could be satisfied, thanks to Jane and Diarmuid’s culinary skills!

Dessie’s pub provided a night cap and rising early on Saturday morning allowed for two dives where we were greeted by lots of local jellyfish. More socialising was done in Dessie’s that night and the calm weather on Sunday allowed for further diving off this picturesque Island.

Thanks to Diarmuid, Garrit, John, Jane, Denis, Pawel and Claire for making this another successful diving trip for the club. We’re all looking forward to the next one!
