Thurles Sarsfields will face Kilmallock in the quarter-final of the Munster Club Hurling Championship on Sunday, October 28th after they defeated the holders Drom/Inch in an exciting County Senior Hurling Chsampionship Final at Semple Stadium on Sunday.

Sarsfields have now won 32 County Senior Championships but have yet to lift the Munster title, an unwanted record they’ll be anxious to put right this season.

Their latest Dan Breen Cup success owed much to top scorer and man of the match Aidan McCormack, who scored 1-6 from play; as well as half-backs Michael Cahill and captain Padraic Maher, and the midfield partnership of Michael Gleeson and Johnny Enright.

They were ahead by 7 points at half time, 1-11 to 0-7. However a tremendous Drom comeback, led by captain Johnny Ryan, saw them in front by a point with just over 10 minutes remaining after Seamus Callanan and David Butler found the net.

Sarsfields prevailed in an exciting finale and a point from man of the match Aidan McCormack sealed the deal.

Their Munster quarter-final against the Limerick champions in just under a fortnight will be played in Kilmallock.
