The game was even for the first quarter at 0-3 apiece. Then Clonoulty built up a lead of 1-7 to 0-4 by the interval, their goal coming in the 21st minute when a perfect delivery by David Dunne was touched home by a James Hammersley.

The combination reduced the margin with a goal and a point in the first eight minutes after the resumption before Clonoulty scored three goals via James Hammersley, Ronan Heffernan and David Dunne, to win 4-12 to 1-8.
