Cashel fall at final camogie hurdle

Last Tuesday, May 14, Cashel played Thurles in the U16 County Final at the Ragg Camogie pitch.

Last Tuesday, May 14, Cashel played Thurles in the U16 County Final at the Ragg Camogie pitch.

Thurles started at a blistering pace and scored three points of the game without reply, but back came Cashel who replied with a goal and two points. The last ten minutes of the first half saw absolutely brilliant hurling from both sides leaving the half time score: Cashel 1-2 Thurles 0-4.

The start of the second half saw Thurles pick up two points from frees but Cashel responded quickly with Orla O’Dwyer scoring a brilliant goal which saw the Cashel girls extend their lead 2-2 to 0-6. In the last seven minutes Thurles took complete control of the game to run out worthy winners by a scoreline of 3-9 to 2-2.

The Cashel scorers were Jane Grogan 1-1, Orla O’Dwyer 1-0 and Kate Murphy 0-1.

Juveniles training continues on Wednesday evenings as usual in Leahy Park at 6.30pm.

All registrations are still not in, please ensure that members are registered. Ask members of the club at training.

The U12 County-Semi Final has still to be fixed. Please keep in touch with club in the event of the fixture coming up in between the newspaper report.

The U14 County Final, Cashel V Clonoulty, was put back a week from Tuesday, May 21, to Tuesday, May 28. Time 7.15p.m. Venue: The Ragg County Camogie Pitch.
