Clonmel Juvenile Athletic Club travelled to Moyne last Sunday for the County Juvenile Even Age Group Cross Country Championships. Over a good course the athletes performed well and it was great to see many new members compete so well.
In the Girls under 10 race we had athletes running cross country for the first time. There were had good performances from Maedbh Mulcahy 11th, Lily Grace 20th, Megan Hurley 25th, Grace Lauhoff 26th, Yvette Darcy 29th, Grainne O’Connor 30th, Isobel Hurley 35th, Laura Jane Pyke 37th and Rachel Lauhoff 45th. This squad combined very well to win the bronze medals. In the Boys under 10 race there were had performances from Charlie Barlow 15th, Mark Corcoran 24th, Ben Hanafin 48th, Gerald Nugent 49th and Morgan Perchoc 53rd.
In the Girls under 12 race there were good performances from Caoimhe Mulcahy 5th, Ava Fennessy 6th, Brid Moynihan 8th, Siobhan Whelan 9th, Hannah Berry 17th, Aoibhin Foley 23rd, Abby O’Sullivan 24th, Caoimhe Walsh 25th, Aine Grace 28th, Sophie Boyle 31st and Chloe Conway 35th. This squad combined very well to win the silver medals.
In the Boys under 12 race there were good performances from Eoin McCarthy 21st, Jack Darcy 24th, Stephen O’Leary 25th, Carlos Grace 26th, Peter Keating 28th, Rian McCormack 35th, John John Carolan 36th, David Broderick 37th, James O’Reilly 38th and Aaron Ahearne 41st.
In the Girls Under 14 race there were fine performances from Moya Whelan 5th, Anna Carey 6th, Muireann O’Connell 10th, Yasmin Quirke 12th and Elma Casey 13th and these athletes combined very well to win the Gold medals.
In the Boys under 14 race Colm McCarthy ran very well when finishing 11th.
In the Girls under 16 race Ciara O’Neill ran a brilliant race when winning the bronze medal.
In the Girls under 18 race Orlaith Moynihan got her Cross Country season off to a good start when winning the silver medal while Laura Tobin should also be pleased with her performance when winning the Bronze medal. In the Boys under 18 race Aaron Egan and Anthony Tobin finished 4th and 5th respectively.
