The annual Carrick-on-Suir Triathlon attracted more than 200 competitors last Sunday and here is some of the action from the race captured by photographer Dennis Barry.

The event kicked off at 11am at Sean Healy Park when the hardy athletes braved the chilly waters of the River Suir to take part in the first leg of the race - the 750m downstream swim.

After completing this challenge, they hopped on racing bikes to embark on a 20km cycle that took the competitors up the Cregg Road and out to Faugheen before returning to Carrick-on-Suir.

The final leg of the race was a 5km run along the main Waterford to Clonmel Road and down the river bank.

One of the race organisers Gary McCarthy said Carrick-on-Suir Triathlon has been rated as the most “customer friendly” triathlon race by Outsider leisure and sports magazine.
