Clonmel AC’s Derek Nolan ran very well when finishing 14th in 23 mins 53 secs to win the over 50 award, his first award in this category.

Then we had Aine Roche also running well when finishing a close 5th in a very competitive Ladies race in 25 mins 47 secs.

Clonmel also had good performances from Ned O’Brien 47th 27:45, Joe Grinsell 84th 30:45, Eileen Hynes who won the Ladies over 50 award in 32:01, Helen O Ceallaigh 102nd in 32:21, Eamon Crowley 104th in 32:33, Kate Hassett 106th in 32:36, Myles McHugh 108th in 32:38, Hazel Galloway 118th in 33:43 and Rita O Loughlin 182nd in 42:23.

The Fethard Festival 5k road Race took place in demanding conditions last week but that didn’t deter the O Ceallaigh household.

In the Men’s race Niall ran very well when finishing 2nd in 18 mins 28 secs.

Then we had Helen O Ceallaigh running her second race in two nights finishing very strongly to finish 2nd Senior Lady and win her first Open race prize when crossing the line in 25 mins 22 secs.

She will be going all out this Friday night to better that time at the Champion Kiely 5k in Ballyneale.

Hazel Galloway also ran her second race in two nights finishing well when crossing the line in 25 mins 35 secs in 17th place.

The Dromana 5 Mile road race took place last week. Here Mary Molloy ran well when finishing 66th in 35 mins 42 secs.

All roads lead to Ballyneale this Friday night for one of the fastest 5k course in the County when the Champion Kiely 5k event gets underway at 7.30pm.

The County B Track and Field Championships took place in Templemore last weekend. In the Boys under 9 60m Ryan McCormack ran very well when finishing a close 4th. In the Girls under 9 60m Lauryn O’Flynn ran very well when 4th. Later in the day she ran very well to win the Bronze medal in the 200m. In the Girls under 10 60m Isobel Kelly ran very well when winning the Silver medal.

Hazel McFadden ran a brilliant race when winning the Girls Under 12 80m sprint with Chloe Conway a close 4th and put in another great performance when winning the 600m Silver medal. In the Boys under 12 600m Stephen O’Leary ran very well when winning the Bronze medal. Maedbh Mulcahy ran a brilliant race when winning the Girls under 10 300m. Hannah Berry led a 1, 2 3, in the Girls under 12 Lone Jump with Caoimhe Walsh and Abby O’Sullivan winning the Silver and Bronze medals respectively.

Ciara Parker won the Girls under 11 800m Gold medal. Carlos Grace performed very well when winning the Boys under 14 Turbo Javelin. Conor O Loughlin won the Boys under 11 Long Jump.

Clonmel also had some brilliant performances in the relays. Indeed all the above mentioned athletes won medals in the Relays along with Sam O’Sullivan who was on the Boys under 9 relay team. David Gartlan, Rian McCormack and Aaron Ahearne all won medals in the Boys under 11 event while Sophie Boyle and Ciara O’Farrell were on the team that won medals in the Girls under 12 event. Many of these athletes were competing in this event for the first time.
