Camogie:

Our Under 14s played Cashel in the county quarter-final last Tuesday. Up against a very strong Cashel team our girls acquitted themselves quite well with heroic defending. Emma Tobin led the way with some fantastic saves in goal. The backs got in some tremendous blocks and hooks to prevent Cashel scores. In the end we were beaten but our girls can be very proud of their efforts.

Well done to Manager Mairead Dowling who had these girls in flying form through their series of games.

The Under 16s had their final game of their group last Tuesday night. Both Moyle Rovers and Annacarty went into the game with two wins each and the prize for the winner was a County semi-final spot. Both teams served up a great game of camogie with no quarter asked or given. Moyle Rovers had the better of exchanges early on but this did not convert on the scoreboard. After 15 minutes it was all square with no scores with both defenses were busy.

Moyle Rovers suffered badly when Derbhile Fitzgearld picked up an ankle injury, forcing her to leave the field of play. This seemed to affect the team and Annacarty seized the initiative and got sores to put them 2-3 to 0-0 ahead at half-time.

Great credit to our girls in the second half who didn’t give up and got on the scoreboard. Rachel Brown opened the scoring with a point from a free and followed up with well taken goal, Zoe Farrell and Jenny Everard followed up with further points. However we failed to convert some late scoring chances and our chance was lost.

Annacarty were flattered with the final score of 4-6 to 1-3.

Well done to Managers Olivia Shanahan and Mairead Dowling who encouraged the girls from start to finish.

Team: Rachael Browne (1-1), Shannon Keating, Shania Dowling, Deirdre Ni Chaislean, Megan Shanahan, Derbhile Fitzgerald, Michelle McMeel, Aoife Power, Evrena Everard, Zoe Farrell (0-1), Lorraine Williams, Chelasea Holden, Sarah O’Dwyer, Rowena Dowling, Jenny Everard,(0-1).

Moyle Rovers Juvenile

U12B Football South County Championship qualifier

On Friday last, our U12B team played the South County Football qualifier against
Cahir.

Moyle Rovers played into the breeze in the first half but from the off, took the match to Cahir lead by their midfield duo of captain Adam Maher and Conor Og Ryan. The team worked well as a unit with some great passing movements involving Aidan Lonergan, Sarah O’Connor and Hugh O’Sullivan.

Aaron Kiely and Kieran Ryan up front made great use of the possession coming their way taking some great scores. In defence, Michael Buckley and Eve Ryan supported goalie Aidan Hickey and kept the Cahir forwards at bay.

Final score Moyle Rovers 8-12 Cahir 4-4
