A darts team from a Carrick-on-Suir pub has scored the bulls eye in the Co. Tipperary Darts League.

Croke’s Bar darts team, led by former Tipperary captain Jimmy Morrissey, won the Senior Tipperary Darts League title at

Hearne’s Hotel, Clonmel when they defeated defending champions, Local A, formerly Gavin’s Bar.

It was the Croke’s Bar team’s fourth appearance in the Senior County League final since 2006.

Croke’s Bar’s opening pair Bernard Barry and Mick Hayden lost to Gerry O’Hara and Paul Prout but their second pairing Tone Power and Aidan O’Mahony triumphed over Willie McGarry and Mick O’Connell.

Jimmy Morrissey partnered by Paul Bourke lost to Jimmy Hannigan and Finbar Bourke in a very competitive game with Finbar Bourke hitting double 16 to leave the home team leading 2-1 going into the singles.

In the singles contest, Jimmy Morrissey levelled matters against the home captain Paul Prout. Bernard Barry put Croke’s in front against an in form Gerry O’Hara but it was level again when Finbar Bourke beat Mick Hayden.

In possibly the best game of the night, Willie McGarry defeated Tone Power and that put the Clonmel team just one game from overall victory. But Paul Bourke went on to beat Mick O’Connell to leave the match tied at 4 games each. Beans O’Connell, who played the deciding leg for Clonmel in last year’s final, was again in this year’s decider against Croke’s Aidan O’Mahony. Aidan played the best darts of his life and won the title for the Croke’s team.

The Croke’s team were unbeaten all year in the League. After the trophy presentation, Jimmy Morrissey thanked the County Darts Board, Hearn’s Hotel, the losing ‘Local’ team, his fellow team members and Tom and Margaret Croke for all they put in to the team and darts in Carrick-on-Suir.
