Carrick CBS hurlers win Munster title

Carrick-on-Suir CBS Secondary School’s senior hurling team are the new Munster Schools Senior Hurling champions.

Carrick-on-Suir CBS Secondary School’s senior hurling team are the new Munster Schools Senior Hurling champions.

The team (pictured above) clinched the title by defeating Abbeyfeale of Limerick by one point in Kildorrey on November 13. Final score was Carrick CBS 1-9, Abbeyfeale 1-8.

All-Ireland medallist William Hahessy drove the team on from the centre back position and received excellent support from Conor Hahessy and Oisin Brophy. In Midfield, Shane O’Dwyer and Michael Whelan worked very hard. Dean Hallinan was amazing in the forwards as was Josh Moroney in the final 10 minutes.

Scorers were: Conor Friend 1-0, William Hahessy 0-2, Jamie Norris 0-1, Shane O’Dwyer 0-1, Darragh Shelly 0-3 and Josh Moroney 0-1.
