BAM Rett Syndrom cycle for Tipperary

Management and staff at BAM Contractors will be cycling through Tipperary on a trip from Cork to Kildare to raise funds for Rett Syndrome Ireland. The two day cycle takes place on the 27th and 28th of June with 103 volunteers participating in the challenge.

Management and staff at BAM Contractors will be cycling through Tipperary on a trip from Cork to Kildare to raise funds for Rett Syndrome Ireland. The two day cycle takes place on the 27th and 28th of June with 103 volunteers participating in the challenge.

The charity cycle will begin at BAM’s office at Little Island, Cork, with the cycle travelling through several counties including, Waterford, Tipperary, Kilkenny, Carlow and finishing off at BAM head office in Kill, county Kildare.

Rett Syndrome is a rare neurodevelopmental disorder resulting in physical and intellectual disability. It affects girls almost exclusively - one in ten thousand births and those affected are severely disabled. It is characterised by normal early development followed by a period of regression where skills are lost. The cycle will raise funds for much needed research by the Rett Syndrome Research Trust.

Speaking about the cycle, Theo Cullinane, Chief Executive, BAM Contractors said “BAM is delighted to be supporting Rett Syndrome Ireland with this cycle. We have recruited a large number of staff and family members to participate in the cycle with fundraising going to research into Rett Syndrome. Cyclists will be traveling through Tipperary on the 27th of June so I’d encourage the public to keep an eye out and donate online for the cause. BAM partners with a number of worthwhile organisations each year and we are proud to support Rett Syndrome Ireland with its fundraising drive.”

Rett Syndrome Ireland Chairperson Andrew Kehoe has also volunteered to take the challenge: “It is great that BAM has come on board to help fundraise for our research into Rett Syndrome. The fundraising revenue assists us in our important research and I would like to thank all participants.”
