Moyglass United 4 – 1 Clodaigh Rangers

Moyglass United 4 – 1 Clodaigh Rangers

United put in a great performance to produce an emphatic win against North Tipp rivals Clodaigh Rangers on Sunday.

Within five minutes Moyglass opened the scoring when Andrew Yates was quickest on to a through ball and lobbed the Rangers keeper.

Ten minutes later Moyglass doubled their lead as Keith Phelan was on hand to tap in an Ashley Laslett cross, before Laslett himself scored from the penalty spot five minutes further on.

This knocked the stuffing out of the visitors, but they did retain a glimmer of hope as just before half-time Noel Morrisey scored.

Rangers did try to reel in Moyglass in the second half but much of their huffing and puffing never looked like breaking down a resolute home defence. And ten minutes before the end, the Moyglass boys wrapped up the win as Michael Griffin finished a through ball from Sean Tynan to restore their three winning margin.

Borrisokane 0 – 2 Wilderness Rovers

Wilderness Rovers made it a clean sweep for the TSDL over their Northern rivals with a good win away in Borrisokane on Sunday afternoon.

They continued their topsy-turvy season and took the lead in this tie early on when Ger Kennedy fired home after being put through by David Grace in the 10th minute. Five minutes later the dynamic duo was at it again, with the roles reversed this time. Kennedy became the provider and Grace the finished to put the visitors two up.

The game settled down after this, and though the home team had a few half chances, they never recovered from the poor start, sending the Clonmel team home with the victory in their pockets.
