Hayley Nolan stars on Irish soccer team in Russia

One of the players currently starring for Ireland’s U-17 women’s soccer team is the daughter of a Clonmel couple.

One of the players currently starring for Ireland’s U-17 women’s soccer team is the daughter of a Clonmel couple.

Hayley Nolan is daughter of Caroline Kelly, originally from Gortmalogue and John Nolan from College Avenue. The family live in Naas.

Hayley is on the Irish team that has qualified for the next phase of the UEFA Championships qualifiers with impressive performances in the first round in Ulyanovsk, Russia in the past fortnight when they beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 12-1, Turkey 1-0 and lost 1-0 to Russia. The finals will be held in England next year.

Hayley, a midfielder/defender who plays with Peamount United, will start 5th Year at St. Mary’s Secondary School in Nass at the end of the month.

Her sister Katie is also a talented sportswoman and was captain of the Irish U-18 volleyball team last year.
