Suirside 7 – 0 Clonmel Celtic B
Buoyed by their Shield success last weekend Suirside went in chase of more silverware on Sunday, and will doubtfully get any easier games in the rest of this competition.
It took them 15 minutes to open the scoring through Andy Hickey. Their goal of the day though came ten minutes later when left back John O’Donnell took off on a solo run, which ended in him scoring a rare but priceless goal to double their lead.
After that, it turned into something of the Darren Sweeney show, as the Suirside striker got four of the next five goals, along with a strike from substitute Paul Butler, to run out easy winners.
Ballyneale 2 – 0 Peake Villa B
Ballyneale advanced to the next round of the TS&DL’s blue riband competition at Ballydine on Sunday last when beating a Peake Villa B side who were short of some of their players on the day.
The home side opened the scoring after 20 minutes when Johnny McGrath delicately lobbed the goalkeeper from the edge of the box, and Ballyneale doubled their advantage shortly before half-time with a very good finish to the net from Robbie O’Brien.
Despite chasing down the lead in the second half, the Thurles side couldn’t breach the home defence and made their exit from of the competition at the first hurdle.
