Full points for Kilsheelan United and St. Michael’s

Kilsheelan United 1 – 0 Redmondstown

Kilsheelan United 1 – 0 Redmondstown

The home side got the better of this closely contested local derby on Sunday but had to wait until the very end of the second period of the game to get the goal which put them up at the top of the table.

They went into the second period with fire in the bellies and made plenty of chances but it looked like all coming to nought as they couldn’t break down their opponents’ dogged defensive unit. That was until two minutes from time when a shot by Senan O’Halloran was dropped into the net by the away keeper to give Kilsheelan United the points.

St Michael’s 5 – 1 Killusty

St. Michael’s reserves won this rather easily in the end, but it was only a series of late goals that really opened up the gap against a tough Killusty side.

The home side took the lead in the 26th minute with a goal by Brian Glasheen, and went to the break one up.

On the hour mark, a snap shot by Shaun Aylward levelled the scores, but Saints came roaring back and retook the lead a minute later through a second by Glasheen.

Two goals in two minutes from Keith Bourke and Eliot Thompson finally secured the points for the home team and a late effort by Sean Kiely proved to be the cherry on top of a fine performance by St. Michael’s.

Division One

Rosegreen Rangers 3 – 1 Cullen Lattin

Rosegreen took all three points here with a good performance in the only Division One game played on Sunday.

They opened the scoring in the fifth minute with a goal from Eoin Byrnes who got on the end of a Daithi Bargary pass, and then held the lead all the way to the break.

Cullen got back into the game five minutes after the restart, when a free kick just outside the box was conceded by the home team and was fired home by the visitors John Power.

Both teams enjoyed a number of chances to retake the lead, but 15 minutes from time Mark Wallace hit the goal of the game from all of thirty five yards out, to put the home side back in front. A second goal from Byrnes four minutes from time finally secured the points, and put Rosegreen back into winning ways after a few disappointing weeks.
