Students of Scoil Mhuire Carrick On Suir excelled at a very competitive Irish Schoools Championship last Saturday in Tullamore.
Miriam Daly competiting in the Junior age group, won the 75mhurdles in 11.59 secs and she was 2nd in the 100m sprint in a Personal Best time of 11.42secs
Kellyann Doyle was a clear winner of the senior 400m hurdles in a time 62.40 secs, a great time in what was very windy conditions. Aoife Doyle ran a very competitive 300m hurdles in the Intermediate final to finish 5th, Aoife will be still under age for
this age group again next year.
In the Intermediate Relay final, Scoil Mhuire girls finished a close second to Castletroy of Limerick in a great time of 50.63secs, with a team of Aoife Doyle, Miriam Daly. Niamh Foley and Emily Walsh. Aoife, Miriam and Emily will be under Intermediate
grade again next year.
Aoife Doyle and Emily Nolan have been selected to compete on the Munster Schools Team at the Tailteann Interprovincial on June 19.
Jake Vermeer, a student of Comeragh College, won a great silver medal in the Junior 80m hurdles in a time of 11.79 secs.
Jake Costello, CBS, finished 5th in the Junior Long Jump, with a jump of 4.84m.
Rose Ann FitzGerald, Gael Scoil Clonmel, was 7th in the Minor Long Jump, with a Jump of 4.67m.
Martin Kehoe, Presentation Ballingarry, finished 7th in the Junior Triple Jump with a jump of 10.46m.
Michael Dineen, Newtown School Waterford, was 6th in the Senior Shot Putt with a throw of 10.46m and 7th In the Javelin Final with a throw of 42.04m.
