Tranquil Sea is on course for his hat-trick attempt in the Clonmel Oil Steeplechase at Powerstown Park racecourse on Thursday, 15th November, with the first race off at 12.55pm on one of the biggest days in Clonmel’s horse racing calendar.

Speaking from his base at Ballynonty, trainer Edward O’Grady confirmed that the 10 year-old has this race, the most valuable one of the year at Clonmel, as his immediate target. Tranquil Sea has won 12 races in his career and has been a wonderful servant for his trainer and joint owners Dermot Cox and Nelius Hayes. As well as two Clonmel Oil Steeplechases he also has a Paddy Power Chase (Cheltenham), a John Durkan Memorial Chase (Fairyhouse), a Newlands Chase (Leopardstown) and a Webster Cup Chase (Navan) to his name.

DJ Histon, Manager of Clonmel Racecourse says “We are delighted that Tranquil Sea and his connections are planning a return visit to Powerstown Park on November 15th. He will be attempting to win three Clonmel Oil Steeplechases in-a-row, which would be a marvellous achievement. We anticipate the race will attract a quality entry and our sponsors Clonmel Oil will have an exciting race, which they richly deserve for supporting us over the years. There is always a great atmosphere here on Clonmel Oil Race Day and we look forward to it very much”.

Clonmel Oil (Topaz) and Clonmel Racecourse are offering an attractive all-in package for racegoers. The special E25 ticket includes admission, a race card, lunch and a €5 Tote voucher. Tickets must be pre-purchased on or before Tuesday, 13th November and all ticket holders will be entered in a draw for a €300 petrol or diesel voucher (kindly sponsored by Clonmel Oil).
