Clonmel High School registered an emphatic victory against Clare opposition in the senior hurling secondary schools B championship this after noon .
Passage to the last eight in Munster was secured very early on in Cappamore for the High School team who ran out comfortable winners in a one sided contest.
Given how feeble a display was offered by the Clare team Clonmel High School can afford to read very little in to this win .Guaranteeing their place in the last eight of the competition was the objective for the High School and that was achieved in the first half as the Clonmel team ran riot.
The Clare team gave themselves some hope by scoring an early goal after seven minutes to give them a two point lead in the game.
It took a while for the High School to get into their stride but when they did they obliterated the Clare opposition.
Two goals in as many minutes from full forward Enda Dunphy and Sean Kennedy set the High School on their way and when corner forward Diarmuid Mulcahy blasted home for a third goal the game was as good as over.
The High School added on five more points before the break with dominant figures like Ben Owens and Mark Stokes scoring a point apiece with Diarmuid Mulcay scoring a brace and Sean Kennedy coonverting a free.
During that half Dillon Downes scored a point for St Caimins, their only score other than that early goal they clocked up at the start.
Clonmel High School held a twelve point advantage at half time and were in no mood to allow the opposition back into the game.
Points from Ben Owens and Sean Kennedy stretched the lead before a rampant full forward, Enda Dunphy found the net on three occasions within a few minutes and that blitz killed off the opposition and ended the game as a contest.
The Clare team offered little resistence scoring just one point, a free, in the second half, as Clonmel High School cruised to a twenty two point victory.
