Tipperary businesses support Cappagh hospital appeal

Five Tipperary businesses, Clonmel Swimming pool gym, Abbey Court Hotel/ Trinity leisure club, Canon Hayes recreation centre, Thurles leisure centre and Clonmel Park leisure club have joined with Cappagh Hospital Foundation, the fundraising arm of Cappagh National Orthopedic Hospital, on its latest national fundraising initiative, called Trifitness, to raise funds to develop a high quality sports rehabilitation gym that will enable Cappagh to support patients, from all sporting levels, disciplines and ages, get back to full health and active lifestyles.

Speaking at the launch, John Dennehy, Executive Director, Cappagh Hospital Foundation, said - “With Cappagh’s strong sporting therapy and reputation, we felt that this type of initiative was the perfect vehicle to help raise funds and awareness for the hospital and the work they undertake.

“We are delighted that the Clonmel Swimming pool gym, Abbey court hotel/ trinity leisure club, Canon Hayes recreation centre, Thurles leisure centre and Clonmel park leisure club have joined with CHF to help fundraise for this worthy cause.

“The Trifitness initiative is running for 10 weeks, from September to December, in conjunction with hundreds of sports associations, gyms and fitness centres across Ireland. We are urging people, at all levels of fitness, to join in, sign up and get fit by registering their Trifitness team at www.trifitness.ie. Trifitness is a unique, fun way to improve your fitness, health, mobility and wellbeing with friends or work colleagues, while at the same time raising funds for a worthy cause.”

Trifitness is a team event in which teams of three will compete in a series of interactive distance time trials of 10 minutes each on treadmill, rowing and cycling apparatus in order to qualify for the semi-final and finals, which will be held on Saturday, December 8, in DCU Sport.

There is a strong emphasis on designated website interactivity, with a Live Online League Table and online training tips and advice from experts across nutrition, training, fitness and physiotherapy. Over the 10 week period, each Trifitness team will submit their five distance trial times to qualify for the semi-finals and finals. Each team’s distance is recorded and registered on the Trifitness website.
