The Glen of Aherlow Fáilte Society Ltd in association with the Galtee Walking Club will hold their fourth annual Glen of Aherlow Winter Walking Festival in Tipperary over the weekend of February 1st to 3rd.

The festival will host nine guided walks over two days, on Saturday February 2.

“A” walkers can enjoy the magnificence of Galtymore in winter including the Glencush Horseshoe or a walk to the top of Galtymore, while “B” walkers have the option of the lower Galtees to Lake Diheen or Slievenamuck with the “C” group walking on National Loop routes.

On Sunday, walkers will have a wonderful choice with Cush Mountain, Lakes Borheen & Curra or a hike on Slievenamuck.

Helen Morrissey, Walking Festival Manager, has great expectations for this year’s festival.

“Following the success of last year’s Winter Festival the expectation is for even more visitors to stay in the Glen over the first weekend in February, which will bring a much needed boost to all local providers.”

The festival opens in Aherlow House on Friday February 1, with music by Nick McCarthy. On Saturday night a festival dinner will be held in the hotel at 7.30pm and non-residents are welcome to attend.

There will be Club Ceoil entertainment in the bar after dinner.

Local tourism providers, who are part of the Walkers Welcome Initiative, are offering a superb attractive weekend deal for the Winter Walking Festival in The Glen, with prices ranging from €75 per person sharing.
