Walk your way to fitness

Recent surveys suggest that fitness walking can help improve all aspects of physical fitness including aerobic fitness, flexibility and muscular strength.

South Tipperary Sports Partnership plan to hold a FitWalk Programme and two FitWalk Clinics as follows:

5 Week Walking Programme:

The FitWalk Programme, delivered over 5 weeks aims to develop the participant’s physical fitness through a combination of fitness walking, mobility exercises and resistance activities.

Participants will be taken through the fundamentals of mobility and resistance, taught good posture, the techniques of Stridewalking and Powerwalking. Also, participants will use heart rate monitors which are central to the series of sessions. Notes and homewalking diaries are distributed at each session. Cost of the Fit Walk Programme is €25 per person for the 5 weeks.

FitWalk Programme, Cappawhite Community Centre, Cappawhite, Commencing Tuesday 12th February 2013, 11.00am - 12.30pm

FitWalk Clinics:

The FitWalk Clinic will teach participants how to squeeze every ounce of fitness from walking. The clinic will identify how to optimise aerobic fitness and fat burning; demonstrate how to incorporate flexibility and strength into a walking programme; demonstrate use of step counters, heart rate monitors and walking poles and teach the key techniques of Stridewalking, Powerwalking and Nordic Walking. Participants will be in a position to bring the information and skills back to their own organisations. Cost of the Fit Walk Clinic is €10 per person.

FitWalk Clinic, Marian Hall, Tipperary Town, Tuesday 12th February 2013, 7.00pm – 9.30pm.
