HOLY WEEK

HOLY WEEK

This week is a week of special solemnity and the following are the scheduled times for Holy Week Ceremonies in Galbally Church:

Holy Thursday: Mass for the Lord’s Supper at 7pm and will conclude with a procession of the Blessed Sacrament to the Altar of Repose. Vigil at the Altar of Repose from 9pm-12 midnight. It will include a guided Holy Hour 10-11pm.

Good Friday: Solemn Celebration of the Lord’s Passion and death with Veneration of the Cross and Holy Communion at 3pm. Stations of the Cross with prayerful reflection begins at 7pm. A special collection for the preservation of Holy Places will be taken up at both services on Good Friday. A reminder Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence. The Divine Mercy Novena begins also on this day.

Holy Saturday: The Easter Vigil Service which is the high point of the week will commence at 9pm.

Patrons are kindly requested to return Trocaire boxes as soon as possible and are encouraged to be generous because this money can save many lives in underprivileged countries, where Trocaire volunteers do trojan work. The Holy Week Triduum is an invitation not just to attend the church ceremonies, but to turn aside from ordinary day to day pursuits and to enter the spirit of the mysteries we celebrate.
