Council to spend E195,000 on minor infrastructure upgrades

Carrick-on-Suir Town Council is investing nearly €200,000 on minor infrastructure improvements around the town over the next few months ranging from footpath repairs and roads resurfacing to installing new bins and public lights.

Carrick-on-Suir Town Council is investing nearly €200,000 on minor infrastructure improvements around the town over the next few months ranging from footpath repairs and roads resurfacing to installing new bins and public lights.

Forty-four projects were approved €195,000 funding under the Council’s annual Block Grant Scheme at a recent meeting of the local authority.

Twelve roads resurfacing projects were approved €82,000 funding.

The resurfacing of Sir John’s under the bridge and road and resurfacing at Ask Park from Cregg Road to the N24 involve the biggest spend of €15,000. A A total of €72,000 funding has been allocated to footpath repairs and improvements.

The most significant allocation is €26,000 to complete all footpaths at Coolnamuck to St Molleran’s GAA Club, which is due to be finished by the end of the month.

The remaining €41,000 of the Block Grant is being invested in a varied range of other minor improvements ranging from €5,000 to repair the vandalised wall at the playground in Ballynch and €3,000 to paint the railings of Dillon Bridge to €3,500 on installing eight bins in Kickham Street and €1500 on erecting a bicycle rack at New Street Car Park.

Roads resurfacing: Sir John’s under bridge and road (€15,000), Ash Park from Cregg Rd to N24 (€15,000), Dungarvan Rd at St Molleran’s (€10,000), Woodland Heights (€9000), Clairin Estate (€6000), Brookdale, Dungarvan Rd. (€5,500), lane to rear of Ormond Castle (€5,500), Tramore Rd/Woodland Heights Junction €5000), Bridge St. (€4000), Ballylynch surface dress only (€3,000), Ard Mhuire (€2,000), Tramore Rd near O’Hickey Statue (€2000).

Footpaths: Coolnamuck Rd. (€26,000), Davin Park GAA (€14,000), O’Mahoney Ave. (€11,000), Mart (€5,000 includes two pedestrian crossings), Town Park (€4,000), Ard Mhuire (€3000), Cregg Rd Junction (€3000), N24 at Primo Garage (€1500), Woodland Heights (€1000),

Miscellaneous: repair Ballylynch wall (€5000), repair lights at Dunbane (€4,000), install lights at Ballyrichard Rd; install 10 lights in Ballyrichard Rd €4,000, install eight litter bins at Kickham St. (€3500), paint Dillon Bridge (€3,000), install speed ramps/cushions in Kickham Street (€3,000), road lining (€3,000), signage improvements €2,000, bicycle rack at New St. Car Park (€1500), Cregg Rd. Junction roundabout, signs and pole, speed ramp at Castle Heights (€1000), install dog fouling signs and poles (E1000), remove three bricked three locations in Treacy Park (€1000), extra light at St Molleran’s Church, Carrickbeg (€1000), install light at Collins Park (E1000), install four lights on Castle Lane (ESB refund).
