Retired postman Pat Slattery was very appreciative of the reception he received last Saturday night in Burncourt Community Hall. John Butler, Chairperson of Burncourt Community Council paid tribute to Pat’s many years of service to the people of the area and spoke of his obliging nature and his rapport with the people he encountered on his route. Pat would like to thank everyone for the gifts he received, saying that he and his wife Margaret were overwhelmed by the generosity of the people of the locality. We wish Pat a long, healthy and happy retirement. Sláinte with thanks from the people of Burncourt.

We play Moyle Rovers in our last league section game of the Championship this Saturday, July 2, at 7.30pm in Ardfinnan. A win here will guarantee our passage into the semi final whilst a defeat will leave us depending on other results. We would encourage our followers to give the team the backing they deserve on Saturday evening.
Due to results earlier in this Championship we have qualified for the quarter final against Ballyneale which will be played in mid July.

Burncourt NS achieved a unique double lately in winning the special schools football and hurling competitions lately. The football victory was secured with a final win over Drangan in Ardfinnan. The hurling was achieved with a thrilling win over neighbours Clogheen. The panel consisted of Richie Maher, Shane Connolly, Colin English, James Conway, James Curtin, Aaron Enright, Ryan Crotty, Dylan O’Brien, Gavin English, Andrea Conway, Chloe Enright, Katie Smith, Ciara Fitzgerald.
