ROCKWELL ROVERS GAA CLUB
Well done to our minor hurlers who beat Carrick Davin last Monday, August 29, in Monroe. This was a county semi-final so the best of luck to the players in the final.
The U14’s were denied a West Final meeting with Clonouty in the cruellest manner possible with Arravale Rovers scoring a goal with virtually the last puck of the ball to deny Rockwell by two points. The final score was 2-7 to 3-6.
Our U12’s played a thrilling match last Monday night in Sologhead in the West C hurling final. The game ended level at 6 points each with Colm Moloney scoring 5 pts, one from play, 3 frees and a well taken 65 and Conor Walsh adding another from open play. Both defences were excellent with Conor O’Brien once more outstanding in goal. The defence of Sean O’Connell and the ever brave John Burke protected him as if their lives depended on it ably assisted by Michael Kelly and Fergus English who improved as the game wore on. This was especially true as the game went into extra time. Conor and Colm played themselves to a standstill in midfield. Mark Ryan was excellent in attack and was a constant threat. Ciaran McKenna did trojan work and was well assisted by Grainne Moloney who tackled everything that moved. Patrick Hickey worked his socks off against a very strong Emly defence and the same can be said of substitutes Clodagh McGivern and Karin Blair who was very lively. This was a tense match with nothing between the teams and if the replay is near as good we have a great match to look forward to. Well done to all, especially trainers and selectors
The U12’s had a busy week, they also took part in the premier games U12’s hurling in Semple Stadium last Saturday 3 September and despite playing well, they were beaten by a very strong Ballyneale team. This was a great opportunity for the players to play in Semple Stadium. Well done to all.
