Carrick people urged to shop local this Christmas

Every household in Carrick-on-Suir has been urged to buy one extra item locally during the Christmas shopping season to help preserve jobs in the town.

Every household in Carrick-on-Suir has been urged to buy one extra item locally during the Christmas shopping season to help preserve jobs in the town.

The appeal has been issued by Carrick-on-Suir Business Association (COSBA) as it encouraged the people of Carrick-on-Suir and surrounding areas to support the Carrick-on-Suir Fashion Extravaganza at Dove Hill this Friday night.

The fashion show featuring clothing, shoes and accessories from a wide range of stores in the Carrick-on-Suir area is being organised by Carrick-on-Suir Lions Club.

COSBA said it was delighted to be associated with Fashion Extravaganza, which kicks off at 8pm on Friday.

Fashions from Blarney, Leonies, My Dress, Meanys Shoes, Bourkes, The Bridal Academy, Phelans Shoes, Outfield Sports and Farrell & Brown will all be showcased at the show.

“If last year’s show is anything to go by, you should get your tickets now at $10 each from any of the participating stores,” said a COSBA spokesperson.

There are many spot prizes on the night.

A free bus to Dove Hill will leave from the Carraig Hotel in Carrick-on-Suir at 7.30pm on Friday and it will return to the town after the show.

All proceeds from the event will go the Lions Club and the COSBA Christmas lights fund.
