Tidy Towns 2012

In case you’ve been away on vacation recently, we would like to inform you that a Tidy Towns Committee has been set up in the parish, and that we intend to take part in this year’s competition, judging for which will take place during the month of May. A Committee was set up at our first meeting in the Parish Community Centre, Ballingarry, on Wed. 21st Mar. Chairperson – Imelda Goldsboro, Secretary – Jimmy Maher, Joint Treasurers – Jennifer O’Brien, / Martina O’Brien. Every person at that meeting were deemed members of the committee, the names of whom will be published next week. Our first major “Clean-up Day” took place a week ago last Saturday 24th March. There was a great response from the local people and a load of work was done - a huge amount of Litter was collected, a lot of power-washing was done, some painting was started, and the craic was mighty. But we’ve only just begun – your continued help is badly needed and very much appreciated. During the past week, the village underwent a major facelift with more power-washing of buildings and footpaths. We are encouraging each householder to do their bit in front of their own property. Common areas will then be tackled by teams of people. The local Co. Council is offering every help and advice. “Much done, much more to do”.

Our next meeting will take place on Wed. 11th April at 9pm in “Jimmy’s” Lounge, Ballingarry. Anyone interested in helping to make our area a better place to live is more than welcome. Please bring a friend.
