45 Card Drive- Annual 45 Card Drive in aid of the Lourdes Fund will be held in the Community Hall Newcastle on this coming Friday (Good Friday) 6th April, commencing at 8.45pm. Entry fee is 10 euro, and refreshments will be served. A raffle will also take place. Muintir-Na-Tire would appreciate your support on the night, and if it is not possible for you to attend a donation will be very welcome.

Liam Lynch Memorial Mass-The 89th Liam Lynch Memorial Mass will take place on Sunday 15th April. The schedule will begin at 2pm at Tigh-Na-nDaoine with a ceremonial rising of the Tri-colour, followed by mass in Newcastle church at 2.30pm. After Mass refreshments will be served in the Community hall, followed by an oration which will be delivered by Senator Mark Daly.

6 hours free IT training-Basic ICT training for people over 55 or unemployed using a specially designed 6 hour training programme that will take place in the IT centre in Newcastle, Clonmel; to book your place or for more information contact Mandy (087) 1846393.

A.G.M-For Newcastle Community Youth and resource Group will take place in Tigh-Na-nDaoine on Wednesday 11th April at 9pm. All are welcome to attend.

Arts and Crafts-for adults will run on Thursdays from 1.30pm-2.30pm in Tigh – Na- nDaoine starting the 12th April. Classes will start with Card making and Calligraphy. If you would be interested please contact Mandy (087) 1846393.

GAA Notes-Juvenile notes: On Wednesday evening March 28th, the under 14s played their first challenge match of the year in Newcastle against Fr Sheehy’s. This turned out to be a great game and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the players and their supporters.

The under 10s travelled to Clogheen on Saturday, March 31st to participate in a blitz including teams from Ballylooby/Castlegrace, Ballyporeen and Fr Sheehy’s. The Newcastle team won two of their games and lost the final game by a single point. Well done top all the players, their coaches and the parents who travelled with the team. The team was Jack Rice Fitzpatrick, Ciaran O Loughlin, Alice Ryan, Yvonne Clancy, Conor Butler, Cormac Butler, Joshua Mclean, Stephen O’Connor, Max Zimmerman and Caelain McGrath.

A group of juvenile players attended the National Hurling League game between Tipperary and Cork in Thurles on Sunday last, April 1st. The club would like to thank the organisers of the trip and those who travelled with the juvenile players.

Scor Sinsear-The Munster final of the Scor Sinsear competition was held in Templemore on Saturday evening last, March 31st. The Newcastle club was represented by our figure dancers. The girls performed very well on the night but were defeated by a very experienced group from Kerry. Well done to all the dancers and their trainer Kathy McGrath.

President Award-The Newcastle GAA and Ceili clubs would like to congratulate Monnie Hallahan on being awarded the GAA Presidents Award. These awards are presented to people who have given outstanding service to the association. Monnie has spent more than 40 years teaching dancing to countless people in Newcastle and surrounding areas. This award is due to recognition for all the work Monnie has given and it is thoroughly deserved.
