ARDFINNAN TIDY TOWNS
Ardfinnan Tidy Towns were very busy this week with the hanging baskets going up around the community. We would like once more to ask everyone to help out with any litter you may see in your areas. We also must mention the fine new flower bed that has been done by the Castleview residents up at the local community health centre. There is a great display of colour as you drive into Castleview. Anyone who wants help or advice in their areas please feel free to talk to any committee members. Keep up the great work.

Ardfinnan Under 14s bring home County Honours
On Saturday last we played the Under 14 B County Football Final against Loughmore Castleiney, in Dundrum. Ardfinnan had just won their third South title in a row but we had narrowly missed out on County honours in 2010 and 2011. With this in the back of our minds our lads were very focused on the job in hand and won on a score line of 2-11 to 0-06.
With the sun shining and the Dundrum pitch in perfect condition our boys started very well and the balance within our team was very obvious from the outset where we were on top in all areas of the pitch. Our defence were reading the play and again many of our attacks began from here. Our midfield again was to the fore and we had to be at our best as the Loughmore Castleiney pairing was strong and looked dangerous when in position. The forwards were again winning their positions each one being out in front and their interplay unlocked the oppositions defence on many an occasion. We ran out comfortable enough winners in the end but things could have been closer if our opponents had taken some of their chances early in the second half.
There was great excitement from all the travelling supporters as Captain Padraig Cunningham raised the Shield high into the air and gave a rousing speech. The trip back to the Village was a special one and the traditional spin around the village saw lots of well wishers come out and salute their newly crowned County Champions. Well done to all the players and management team of Liam Myles, Liam Barrett, Stephen Landy, Diarmuid Boyle and Christopher Ryan.
