This weekend the streets of Cahir will come alive with music and fun as the annual Fair of Cahir kicks off! The Fair will take place this weekend from Friday, August 24, right through to Sunday, August 26, with the main sponsor being Cahir House Hotel. Weather is always a big factor with the Fair but whether it rains or not, the Fair will go ahead.
The Boat Race, sponsored by Dolan’s Supervalu, is the one event which is entirely reliant on the weather as heavy rain makes the river unsafe for a race so it is accessed coming up to the weekend and if the river is too high in the opinion of the professionals, then the race will be reset for a future date so listen for update from the stage over the weekend. But please remember that there is a Parade of Boats on Sunday, August 26, at 1.30pm from the Castle Car Park. As many boats do not survive the initial race and so much work has gone into making them, the Fair Committee feel that the public should get the chance to see them and the teams who made them should get the chance to show them off.
