Cyclists taking part in the Sean Kelly Tour of Waterford this weekend can also help a local charity - Becky’s Beat, which raises awareness of Sudden Cardiac Arrest in school children and adolescents and highlights the needs for defibrillators.

Becky’s Beat was set up by the Whelan family following the very sudden and unexpected death of 7 year-old Becky Whelan in June, 2010.

The Tour’s 12km Kelly Spin, in support of Becky’s Beat, will start at Causeway Tennis Club in Abbeyside at 11.30am on Saturday with registration for cyclists at Dungarvan Shopping Centre Plaza at 10am.

Becky’s Beat will have a fundraising desk at the Kelly Spin registration and all participants and supporters are urged to dig deep for this worthy cause. There will also be a raffle in aid of Becky’s Beat, which is open to all. Among the wide range of prizes are a BMX bike, a €100 Voucher for the 4 Star Citywest Hotel and Newbridge Cutlery Set.
