PRIMARY SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY EVENT

24 boys from New Inn Boys NS travelled to Marlfield GAA facilities, Clonmel on Wednesday October 24. The weather obliged with a sprinkling of autumn leaves lining the edges of the running track. 3rd & 4th Class Boys in the Middle School category excelled in Race 6 winning a Gold Team medal each in division 1, 2 & 3. It was a joy to watch them taking 4th 5th 6th & 7th place (22 points). 5th & 6th Class Boys did us proud in their race! Race 16 was very competitive. They came 3rd best team in division 1 & 2 and won a bronze medal each. Thanks to the parents who were free to come out and support the athletes on the day. Well done also to the girls school who travelled to Marlfied to take part in the primary school cross country event. 3rd & 4th class won bronze (Div 1 & 2) and 5th & 6th class won gold (Div 1) and bronze (Div 2).

TABLE QUIZ - COMMUNITY ALERT

NEW INN & DISTRICT VINTAGE & CLASSIC CLUB

would like to thank all those who supported their recent charity run to Lismore in aid of the Ciara Casey fund. It was a most enjoyable and successful outing. The club presented the proceeds to Ciara’s parents Peter and Susan at a function in Barron’s pub last Friday night 26 October.

USED CLOTHING APPEAL

Dochas Nasamu Orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya, which is an Irish run and Irish built Aids orphanage, are holding a used clothing appeal of ladies, gents and children’s - clothes, shoes, household linens i.e. towels, sheets, blankets, soft toys, handbags etc.(whatever condition - even in need of - recycling - so long as the items are clean). This appeal will take place TODAY Wednesday 31 October, until 11.30am at New Inn Church Grounds. For further information, please contact Marie on 087 6890995. ROCKWELL ROVERS GAA CLUB

JUVENILE CLUB

A very successful table quiz was held on Friday 19 October in Barron’s Pub to raise funds for the Rockwell Rovers Juvenile club with in excess of 2,000 euros being raised. There was a fantastic turn out of 21 tables on the night. The committee would like to thank Quiz master Karl McHugh for his fine effort, Mary Frances Barron for the use of her facilities, also to thank all the sponsors of the spot and raffle prizes who are too numerous to mention and their exceptional generosity is very much appreciated. The committee also appreciates the work of many people on the night, the people who checked the answers, collected the answers, sold raffle tickets, caterers supplying the lovely food etc. The team of Eamon Barron, Mary Doyle, Paddy & Geraldine Cleary came first, followed closely by Brendan & Julia O’Neill, Ian & Teresa Coffey. Well done to everyone and it was heartening in these recessionary times to see such a fine crowd of parishioners enjoying themselves and supporting their local GAA club.

BEWLEYS MINOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP B

This semi-final of the Bewleys minor hurling championship B between Rockwell/Rosegreen and Arravale Rovers played at Clonoulty last Tuesday, 23 October ended in a draw and the result was still a draw after extra time.
